Nestled along the bustling Coors Boulevard NW in Albuquerque, Pelican’s West of Albuquerque stands as a beacon for seafood lovers and American cuisine enthusiasts alike. This inviting restaurant and bar artfully fuses the freshness of the sea with classic American flavors, offering a dining experience that is both satisfying and memorable.
Step inside, and you'll immediately sense the warm, traditional yet relaxed atmosphere that sets the stage for a truly delightful meal. Whether you’re settling in for an intimate dinner or gathering with family and friends, the attentive and personable staff ensure you feel right at home, even on the liveliest nights.
Pelican’s menu reads like a treasure map of coastal delights and hearty American staples. Start your culinary journey with appetizers like the crispy Mozzarella Sticks paired with zesty marinara, or dive into the Sizzling Mussels, their tender shells bursting with rich, garlicky goodness. Seafood aficionados rave about the Blue Point Oysters served on the half shell and the elegantly pan-fried Trout Almondine, topped with roasted almonds that add a delicate crunch and nutty depth.
For main courses, the offerings range from the succulent Blackened Catfish to the “best this side of England” Fish and Chips, a dish that Jennifer Chambers swears by as her newfound go-to. Meat lovers will find tender, expertly prepared steaks like the Choice Rib Eye and Filet Mignon, each cooked to perfection and often served with hearty sides such as loaded baked potatoes or the indulgent bottomless salad bowl.
What truly elevates the Pelican’s experience is the sense of abundance and quality that customers repeatedly mention. Leuyen Do, visiting all the way from Texas, was struck by the undeniable freshness of the seafood despite Albuquerque’s inland location. The surf and turf combo, along with a generous side of clam chowder and fresh house-made bread, left an impression of excellent value and beautifully balanced flavors.
Beyond the food, Pelican’s shines in its genuine hospitality. From cheerful servers who navigate the busy dining room with grace to a hands-on management team that checks in personally, your dining presence is celebrated and well cared for. Customer J.M. Velasquez appreciated how even a bustling crowd could not diminish the quality of service or the pleasure of the meal.
Whether you seek the comforting flavors of Southern Fried Catfish, the zest of a Mexican Shrimp Cocktail, or the visual spectacle of Steak paired with Alaskan King Crab Legs, Pelican’s West of Albuquerque promises an experience that is as flavorful as it is inviting. This restaurant is more than just a place to eat—it’s a destination where the spirit of the coast meets the heart of New Mexico, delivering a feast to savor and memories to cherish.
First time here. Ordered a steak with baked potato with Caesar salad. Steak was cooked as requested. It was delicious. Got the baked potato loaded. It was a large potato. I took half of that home along with half the steak as it was a good sized steak as well. Overall a pleasant dining experience with delicious food.
Just nice to experience good service and good food. Was busy but it wasn't a deterrent to the experience.
Came here last night on 08/02/2023 with my family to meet up with other people. The atmosphere is traditional yet relaxing. The staff was superb on their part making the night even better. Their food is very good & filling. Personally, their Maryland Crab Cake was my favorite dish there. There was other dishes served but overall, it was quite the nice night experience. I recommend people who’s looking for a family outing and/or out with coworkers to come here. You won’t be disappointed. I took screenshots of some of the dishes. Wish I took more.
Best seafood in Albuquerque! My boyfriend and I are visiting from Texas. Everything was so fresh for being so far from the coast. Abundance of food came out for an excellent price. Our main course was delicious. My boyfriend got the special grouper and I got the surf and turf combo; they both came out with delicious sides: clam chowder and a salad. The house bread was so good we had to take a second one home. Our server Dasha( beautiful blonde Ukraine lady) was the best, top of the line service. She made the experience so fun. We would come back just to be served by her. If the restaurant gives promotions she deserves it. Nothing negative to say about this place besides the Rockefeller oysters could have used more seasoning or it was missing something. Besides that everything else came out to perfection.
I ordered fish and chips and these are the best fish and chips I’ve ever had anywhere. I love that I now have a go to for fish and chips. The crab cakes and clam chowder were also delicious. Wait staff was great. The chefs were outstanding. Even the manager came by to check on us. She was genuine and very engaged.
Today was the first time me and my husband tried pelicans. It was amazing to say the least! From the time we walked in until the time we left. Andres was our server, he was friendly and not rushed (he was busy) but still took care of us and timed everything right so we could enjoy every bit. We definitely will be back!
Incredible Food and Service! I had the Prime Rib, Wife had a steak/scallop which she loved. Service was top notch, I used to work in fine dining and I was impressed. They let you customize all your sides without nickel and diming you which is really nice; clean simple affordable bill…. All in all, this is a gem in the Cottonwood area!
We love eating here, the food never disappoints. The service is great, Carley is wonderful and very efficient. I recommend this place for special occasions or just when you want to eat a great meal. The deep fried mushrooms are to die for. Love this place.
